4. Wireless Connection

Follow steps 1-8 for each wireless device you want to connect to your network.
1. Open your wireless network connections.
2. Select the WiFi network you created that is NOT labeled ‘5G’ – This is your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
3. Enter your password.
4. Connect to an Internet web browser and confirm you have Internet service.
5. Open your wireless network connections.
6. Select the WiFi network you created labeled ‘5G’.
7. Enter your password.
8. Connect to an Internet web browser and confirm you have Internet.

If a device does not display a 5G version of your WiFi network:
1. Confirm that your device supports 5G networks.
2. Confirm that 5G band steering is disabled in your modem (see Step 3).

The Hitron 1Gbps wireless modem has a factory pre-set configuration to automatically select the best channel for 5G WiFi services. Some devices (particularly Apple and Nintendo) may not support all of the channels used by the Hitron 1Gbps modem for 5G. This is why a device that supports 5G may not display the 5G labeled network in the wireless connections.
1. Open a Web browser.
2. Enter 192.168.0.1 as the URL.
3. A logon screen for the Hitron Modem will be displayed.

6. Locate the Wireless Channel Feature.
7. Select a specific channel. Most devices support channels 36, 40, 44 or 48.
8. Select SAVE Changes.
